CANTER SAFARI IN CORBETT

Canter Safari in Jim Corbett is a popular shared wildlife safari that allows up to 16 people in one canter. Each shift operates up to 4 canters in both the morning and afternoon. The canter is similar to an open minibus, making it ideal for group travelers and budget-friendly wildlife tours.

Corbett Canter Safari visits the Dhikala Zone, which lies in the core area of the Corbett Tiger Reserve and is famous for its dense forest, rich wildlife, and scenic beauty. If you do not have permission for an overnight stay in Dhikala, the canter safari is the best option to explore this prime zone.During the safari, the canter usually stops near a forest rest house, where visitors can enjoy views of the Ramganga River and may spot wildlife such as deer, elephants, birds, and occasionally tigers (sightings depend on natural movement).

The Canter Safari starts from the Ramnagar Corbett Office. Visitors with pre-booked permits can board the canter from either the Ramnagar boarding point or Dhangarhi Gate.

• Guest details as per valid ID are required: full name, age, gender, and ID number (Aadhaar, Voter ID, Passport, Driving License, etc.).
• Preferred safari date and shift (morning / afternoon) must be shared at the time of booking.
• Full advance payment is mandatory to confirm Jeep Safari or Canter Safari bookings.
• Safari bookings are non-refundable and non-transferable, once confirmed.
• The same ID used for booking must be shown at the safari gate.
• Indian nationals can book safaris up to 45 days in advance.
• Foreign nationals can book up to 90 days in advance (passport details required).
• Safari permits are issued on a first-come, first-served basis, subject to availability.
• In case of technical issues or non-availability, the full amount will be refunded to the original payment source.

• Entry to all safari zones is strictly regulated as per approved vehicle capacity for each shift.
• Visitors must arrive at the entry gate well before reporting time.
• Alcohol, meat, and prohibited items are not allowed inside the forest.
• Private vehicles are not permitted; safaris operate only in CTR-authorized vehicles.
• Dhikala day safaris are allowed only via approved Canter buses.
• Jeep safari pick-up/drop may be provided from selected hotels or resorts (terms apply).
• Online registration and permits are mandatory for all visitors.
• Only government-authorized guides and drivers are permitted during safaris.
• Getting down from the vehicle during safari is not allowed.
• Pets are not permitted inside Corbett Tiger Reserve.
